Ajer on fire

One of the big positives since our humbling at Tynecastle has been the emergence of Kristoffer Ajer playing his part in 3 consecutive clean sheets.

The Gaffer has long been an admirer of the Start protege, now young Kris has a chance to nail the position down for himself.

Our defensive woes have been well documented, with Compper coming into the team on current form you would think Boyata would be making way for the German signing.

Ajer has been fantastic in defence, been linking up successfully and repetitively with the midfield and back to Gordon as well as being largely error-free.

There have been no hands-on heads Efe Ambrose style shocker which has been creeping into Boyata’s game since a back pass resulted in a goal in a pre-season friendly.

He has either been injured or playing poorly, giving away silly fouls like his yellow card for a jersey tug.

Ajer may well be one for the future, but his time is now.

If he plays Centre Back as you would expect against the Newco and helps registers our 4th successive clean sheet, we may well have the answer we have been searching for.

An answer contracted to the club and at only 19 one who could form a core partnership for 7 in a row and beyond.
