With the news that Stuart Armstrong is leaving in a deal rumoured to be worth more than 7 million, the windfall should not be used to recoup what was spent on Eddie, it should be put towards a permanent deal for Patrick Roberts.
His value hasn’t risen after an injury-hit season last year, it was reported to be around 7 million for a deal then, hopefully with his links to Leicester over he can be persuaded to sign and of course for City to sell.
Celtic have a busy season ahead which starts in just weeks with a banana skin tie in the Caucasus, the sooner we add quality to the squad the better, no point waiting for the last days of the window before doing business.
Last season Roberts arrived late and Armstrong signed late in a very aggravated and protracted negotiations which had many of us perplexed after Armstrong had stated he wanted to sign.
That he is leaving without all the commotion of last year is good news for all parties.
If his transfer gives immediate cash for Brendan to spend then hopefully we can snap up Paddy quickly and start plotting for 8 in a row with proven quality.
