Let’s be honest we were off our game yesterday, you get that when you have to go to your squad because you have European exertions on the back of a week with both League and Cup football.

Whilst the 2 points lost are upsetting, when the final whistle blew I was more relieved than upset.

We have equaled our own British record and should feel pride and not scorn.

The reality was that we went to our squad after a 10 day period that featured 4 matches in 3 different competitions.

If you had offered me progress in the League Cup a win over Aberdeen and a draw vs Kille i would have bitten the hand for it.

We always new Bayern away was going to be a very difficult assignment as they will prove to be at home as well.

We now have the opportunity to both build on our record and also to secure the 3 things on offer before Christmas.

  1. A lead in the Premiership
  2. European Football after Christmas
  3. The League Cup

The run into the Winter break.

In the case of the Premiership, we have 11 matches concluding with the Newco’s visit to Paradise, a full round where we will face all the teams in the Premiership.

The League is there to be won and lost in this period.

We essentially need a point against Anderlecht if results go the way the bookies will be tipping, football is an unpredictable science however but a win over the Belgians at home would almost certainly suffice.

The League Cup is itself the trophy where Celtic have struggled the most, we have lost the Final 15 times and won it 16.

We must make sure that we secure our 17th title, keep the treble alive and chip away at the deluded world record across town.

Yesterday wasn’t pretty but in the scheme of things, it was another vital point, another historical record and another stepping stone for this team on its way to greatness.
