If Only They Were Given Time!

Football fans are fickle. When a new player comes into the team they expect him to hit the ground running. They have no real interest in circumstances. Nor do they have any patience. Usually.

So when Nadir Ciftci joined Celtic from Dundee United during the summer, the fact that a seven game SPFL ban was hanging over his head should have cut him some slack with the fans. He was involved in the European games in between times, but didn’t really get to grips with his move.

He’s been in and out of the side, featuring mostly as a sub and has only managed to hit the net a couple of times. For some that’s not enough and has been written off as not good enough for Celtic. But he’s not alone.

Dedryck Boyata came to the club as Ronny Deila’s first choice centre half. The big Belgian has struggled to get any consistency in his game, due to a number of factors, like lack of match practice, a settled defensive partner and his own distribution shortcomings.

Again, a lot in the media in particular as well as some of our own support have dismissed the defender as not good enough for Celtic.
