Izzy back at Left back KT to Centre half?

Celtic fans across social media are demanding the club invest and give Brendan the squad he deserves to take the team forward.

Yesterday we lost out in a battle to sign a player who has Celtic in the blood for a mere 2.75 million, this after we were told that the club had 2 bids of 1.5 million and 2 million rejected.

We are talking about a player who would be a long-term replacement for the Captain at less of the cost of Derk Boerrighter.

At the start of the window we were reported to be interested in a permanent deal for Edouard and a new deal for  McGinn and a Centre Back with McKenna’s name popping up shortly after.

Of these 3 thankfully we secured Edouard and to the board’s credit, we broke our record transfer spending 9 million, since then we have watched Sviatchenko (1 million) and Armstrong (7 million with add-ons up to 10 million) leave for 1 million less with the option to rise to 2 million more.

This means if we had bought McGinn for 3 million we would be down a whopping 1 million quid for the window.

With Celtic signing a 7-year sponsorship deal on the back of a 100 million pound season with our New Balance deal already through the roof, our lack of transfer activity is upsetting.

With our board’s reluctance to spend in mind, let us think of ways we can strengthen without spending.

Izzy is apparently on his way back home to Glasgow, if so then instead of being a cover player for KT, we should get him back at Left Back and move Kieran to Centre Half, a position he has played well before.

Lustig is off the pace, Hendry inexperienced, Boyata and Simunovic should be sold, both are worth a fortune but are not trusted with a 90 minute shift.

Gamboa has done nothing wrong in Hoops and looks to have far more energy than Mika, a back four of Izzy, Ajer, KT and Gamboa would serve us well until we can decide upon a target at Centre Half.

In fairness, we should have bought a star player for 5-10 million and upped the wages of the squad and given them all extensions to stop any grumbles.

The club has trousered enough, it is time to spend, if they won’t spend, then the least we can do is bring in a proven soldier for our colours and move KT to Centre Half.

In many ways it is weakening a strength to strengthen a weakness, but if we are to deal in Bosmans, this is our best bet at keeping a clean sheet in the future.
