Keeping Bain a no brainer

Throughout our unbeaten run last year, Craig Gordon was pilloried by large sections of our support, when Brendan turned to Dorus we were massacred by Barca and whilst we have remained dominant in Scotland, our ‘Keepers haven’t covered themselves in glory in Europe.

Scott Bain is on loan at Paradise from Dundee FC with his time at Dens surely over, his contract expires at the end of the season and he will become a free agent.

Today we have seen a report in the Scotsman which states that Celtic will be in a 3 way tug of war with Hibernian and Hearts respectively.

Should Bain be given an extended run in the team with both Gordon and Dorus out of action, he has the opportunity to play his way into a long-term contract with the Champions elect.

With respect to the Capital clubs, there is no better place to play your football than Celtic Park, we are almost certain to win the Premiership, meaning another crack at the Champions League and a campaign for 8 in a row.

Bain won’t need a bigger carrot than game time at Celtic, at the age of just 26 he won’t want to be a benchwarmer, he is coming into his prime and will understandably want to show his skills on the highest possible stage.

This weekend we go to Motherwell, a banana skin we have often trodden on, it is far from an easy 3 points.

Should Bain be selected and perform well he can look forward to a home debut vs lowly Ross County.

Hopefully, he gets his run in the team, performs well and after sampling Paradise commits to staying.

Many of us have been awaiting a new Goalkeeper to be signed, in Bain, we have a young player who could be our custodian for years to come.

His best years are ahead of him and his talent would no doubt flourish under the best gaffer in the land.

With only wage negotiations as an obstacle and the opposition having a fraction of our spending power, Celtic may have unearthed a gem for tuppence.

Signing him up long term is truly a no-brainer.
