It is great to see that Celtic are looking to buy quality in this window, however, it is a shame that we haven’t yet secured Stuart Armstrong to an extended deal.

With the southerners looking to raid our ranks before our season begins, the failure to lock down a prize asset could come back to hurt us.

Musonda will not walk into the team, regardless of his price tag, he won’t be given the responsibility of taking Celtic through to the lucrative group stages of the UEFA Champions League.

Armstrong if he can be persuaded to stay almost certainly will.

When you think that the Champions League is worth between £25 and £30 million to Celtic, the idea that we spend on a fringe player and possibly lose a gem is ludicrous.

No doubt the negotiations impasse revolves around wages.

Pay the man for crying out loud!

He will easily command a higher wage with his southern suitors so he is by rights taking a pay cut to stay.

The carrot of Champions League football can be dangled in front of him of course, as can the idea of becoming even better under Rodgers and winning even more trophies.

The Auld Biskit tin is baring its teeth not on acquisitions but retentions and if the Southern vultures see an opening they will literally rip the heart out of this team.

A reluctance to pay a player’s worth will see us lose Rogic before long as well, he would walk into almost any English Premier League team already having suitors at Arsenal among others.

Having already lost out on Roberts, who if reports are to be believed is open to a permanent move but whose employers will not be short changed, losing Armstrong would be devastating.

We have an InVIncible team, we shouldn’t let them be broken up by thousands of pounds extra per week and then go spend £5 million.

It sends the wrong message to the squad, they deserve all the rewards in the world for the £10’s of millions they brought into Celtic last year.

It is time some of that was spent on keeping the squad together, we can speculate after that.
