Dundee has reportedly valued Centre Back Jack Hendry at £1.5 million with Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Southampton keeping tabs on the young Scot.
Celtic have tabled a bid of £500,000 a mere third of the asking price.
There has been no word from Dundee since Celtic made the approach and you can only assume that with so many interested that it has been dismissed.
There could be another way, we could give them Scott Allan on a permanent move along with the £500,000 and see if this would whet their appetite for a move for Hendry.
Celtic need to reinforce our back line badly and with both Jozo Simunovic and Erik Sviatchenko rumoured to be leaving Paradise, a new Centre Back is needed to partner Kristoffer Ajer.
Marvin Compper has come to Celtic Park but will not be eligible to play in the Europa league playoffs due to being cup-tied to Leipzig.
Scott Allan hasn’t featured in Brendan Rodgers plans and getting the Ronny Deila signing off the books would also serve a purpose.
He looks a fair way down the pecking order among our midfielders and would likely be languishing if he returned from his loan.
Rogic, McGregor and (at this stage) Armstrong are all vying for his position and appear to be a class above the former Hibernian man.
With Dundee currently in a relegation battle, they are within their rights to ask for a large fee for their best player, at the same time a permanent move for Allan would be a boost to Dundee in the run in and the cash could be spent on reinforcements.
It would be a win-win situation for both clubs and both players.
