Tierney can end Wallace’s Scotland career with a big performance

Kieran Tierney is poised to debut for Scotland against Denmark at just 18 years old, should he replicate his club form for his country then the Scotland career of Lee Wallace is as good as over. Tierney is younger, stronger and faster than Wallace for starters, he is improving everyday as a box to box player with no fear of anyone on the pitch.

Now Wallace I am reliably told (i don’t watch lower league football) is a good option at Left Back, he is renowned for his leadership capabilities having picked up 2 trophies so far out of a possible 13 with 3 still on offer. You see as the DR and ET keep stating, the treble is on! Lee Wallace will likely lift the Petrofac and Championship this year, but Tierney can deliver a blow before the Scottish Cup.

Should Tierney claim his spot in the Scotland XI on a permanent basis as he did after being given his chance at Celtic, Lee Wallace Scotland career will have literally as much future as Emilio Izaguirre’s Celtic career. Ask yourself, could you honestly see us not play Tierney in every match? Tierney is a team player, but he is ruthless and once he gets his chance Wallace well might shiver.

The subtext as earlier alluded to is that before Celtic take on the Newco for the first time in the Scottish Cup, Tierney can deal a psychological blow to Wallace by ending his Scotland career. Before we face off at Hampden, I would imagine that there will be a lot written and said about the upcoming game, Lee Wallace’s sacrifices and multiple uses of the term “Oldfirm”.

Whilst Davie Weir can come out howling in the press that the Govan Galacticos can’t be ignored next season, he again seems to be living in some fools paradise whereby he expects his team to be of a higher standard than the rest of the Premiership. If Sevco rise up it won’t be with the current team meaning they will need imports. Buying Scottish Internationals appears to be their best bet secure representatives in Scotland team.

Tierney is the future at Celtic and the future for Scotland too. It would be criminal for him not to be developed for both. He signed for Celtic at age 7, when he was just age 14, the Oldfirm died. At this time Lee Wallace went off to play the likes of Stirling, Alloa and Raith in a glittering lower league career which has coincided with the club being all but bankrupted to try and beat amateurs and semi professionals.

The two choices couldn’t be more stark.

Lee Wallace has said he wants to stay at Ibrox for life. At 28 years old, hopefully he has 5 more full seasons ahead of him, in that time he can watch KT pick up 10 in a row with Celtic and the papers will still howl and rage that poor Lee Wallace, Captain of The Rangers*, still isn’t being picked.
