Ntcham, Bolingoli, Shved, Bayo and Hendry cost themselves a little over £13 million and came with high expectations, whilst Ntcham has had his moments, the rest sadly have not.
Below them is a list of 12 players who were picked up in the hundreds of thousands, many of them miles away from starting for Celtic and with today’s news that 4 Premiership clubs will scupper the restructure plans that would allow us to field a colts team they surely must be sold.
Some will return out on loan, but in truth very few will make the step up to the first team.
Of the players who have left on loan it is surprising that Jack Hendry comes back with the best chance of staying, he left as an after thought.
Afolabi has done well on loan but will be way down the pecking order as far as forwards are concerned even with Klimala, Edouard and Griffiths unlikely to be playing next season.
Bolingoli looks to be poison to the fans, whilst Shved and Bayo are players whose earlier records spoke of great opportunity that they never fully grasped.
Celtic do not have time to develop these players next year, with the colts looking to be dead in the water, the list above will more than likely be clipped down to a chosen few with the rest moved on.
Now is not a time for projects.
