16 years of hurt

The last time we won the treble the World Trade Centre was still standing, everyone owned a Nokia and facebook didn’t exist.

Try and remember that far back.

I remember the years in between and the failed attempts, most of all i remember the yearning to buy another treble flag.

The last one had WE WILL MARCH WITH O’NEILL written on it, it was on my wall for years.

In the period between 2001 and 2017 we have gone close a few times, the loss to Caley in the semi final a few years back is still a bitter pill to swallow.

Supporters will remember Muir’s infamous no handball decision that cost us the match.

Craig Gordon was also sent off and from leading 1-0 and cruising, we lost 3-2.

Celtic need to put the game beyond Aberdeen, an assured display will see us win the Cup, but if we leave the door ajar then Honest Mistakes may sneak into the game, as can human error.

This season has been simply magnificent, before Rodgers we were getting gubbed by Molde in the Europa League and losing to the Newco on penalties.

The difference in fortunes and attitude couldn’t be more stark.

There is a true belief that this Celtic team will be remembered as legends, in truth they are 90 minutes away from it.

An undefeated clean sweep will be remembered and spoken of by fans of all clubs, not merely our own.

Immortality awaits: Come on you boys in Green!
