30 million quid not enough for Paddy

Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Celtic was willing to break our transfer record, but the bid was turned down by Manchester City.

Apparently, no amount of money could secure the Parkhead fans favourite away from the Citizens.

Speaking in the Express, Brendan said:

“We would have broken our transfer record for Patrick,”

“We wanted to find the deal that would get him back here.

“But he’s a Manchester City player. We could have offered them £30m and they would have said no.

“They didn’t want to sell. So the best option was to get him back on loan.”

With Manchester City not in need of money, the possibility of getting Paddy on a full-time basis may well be difficult for Celtic.

If he has a good season he will be brought back to serve his parent club, if he has a poor season we won’t outlay the money.

Regardless, it is fantastic to have Patrick back at Celtic for a crack at 7 in a row, let’s hope by some miracle we can secure this undoubted gem to play at Paradise for the long term.
