5 players who should go in January but 1 needs honoured first

Sharing is caring!

This coming January there will be a clean out at Celtic, i can see 5 players who will be lucky to ever play in Hoops again.

Bailly cant afford to be a fourth string keeper at this stage of his career.

Efe has been booed off the park for the last time, if we cant get money for him i would assume he will be given a free.

It is pointless just paying his first team wages for the whole year and not to use him.

Boyata is so far behind in the Centre Back pecking order that if he wants to have any chance of getting selected for Belgium he will have to leave.

Gary Mackay Stevens is a class below the men in front of him.

In fact he several classes below Patrick Roberts, Scott Sinclair and a rejuvenated James Forrest.

Hopefully he will not be sold to another Scottish team, he is still a solid player and a southern move would be best for us anyway.

Kris Commons is and always will be one of my all time favourite Celtic players.

The last 2 years under Ronny Deila were a scandal.

He was unused in so many key games and then subbed against Molde away.

Our fans screamed our disapproval and were calling for the managers head and Commons reinstatement.

Kris said sorry and Ronny said he did moving along.

Apart from the fact that he rarely featured for Celtic after then.

The death knell of Ronny Deila’s career was the penalties loss to Sevco, a game in which Kris Commons didn’t feature.

That week i had written a piece titled Enter the Hunskelper. The first sentence was:

Kris Commons must play for Celtic against the Newco this weekend in the Scottish Cup Semi Final, it is the biggest game of the year and when it comes to big game experience then you cant beat Kris Commons.

It is with the heaviest heart that i fear we will never see Kris Commons play for his beloved Celtic again.

He has sustained injury at a time when both his age and his playing style already had him on course for some harsh realities from Rodgers.

I would love to see us give a free transfer so he can cash in on his last pay day, and also for him to be made Captain against Ross County at home on December 28th.

Give him his bow and let everyone say goodbye, it’s the least he deserves.

We of course are away to the Shame just 3 days later so it would be worthwhile resting Rogic, Sinclair, Forrest or even Griffiths/Dembele.

This great servant of Celtic should and must be celebrated for his contributions.

If or when Kris Commons and the others go, they will make way for players who will come in at the intensity levels of Sinclair.

We hopefully wont be shopping for old men like De Vries and not just gambling on unearthing another Moussa Dembele.

Celtic don’t need to buy much, but we do need to buy quality.

With a few players off and a favourite son fare welled, we can get to the business of spending our Euro millions.

Building a team by maintaining our stars and adding to key areas will give us the best chance to win the treble and qualify for the Champions League group stages next August.

If we can do these things right, 10 in a row is ours to lose.

If it ever wasn’t anyway.
