Celtic today ended Ronny Deila’s forgettable tenure in style with 7 goals and a clean sheet. The Celts saved their best for last, dismantling Motherwell with a strengthened midfield that appeared to be light of a dedicated goal scorer.

But the team didn’t seem phased by the absence of Griffiths, Kazim-Richards or Cole with a dominant midfield performance, taking advantage of some very poor Motherwell defending. The fact that the 7 goals came from 7 different scorers is as remarkable as it is admirable of the true team performance.

Jack Aitchison is surely the story of the day however. At just 16 he is now our youngest ever Celt. If the blooding of a young Celt in a rout wasn’t good enough, the young Bhoy scored on debut as well to become our youngest ever goal scorer with his first ever touch.

The best thing to take from this performance and our season as a club is that we have a wealth of youth, for example the next Kieran Tierney in young Aitchison may have just announced himself. On top of this we have an amazing opportunity with the loan deal of Patrick Roberts, as we further saw today with yet another amazing goal.

With a proactive manager next year who will promote our youth, Celtic will have our best chance of qualifying for the Champions League and dominating the Newco. Whilst I wish Ronny all the best, it is such a shame that we had to wait until it was too late until he played the quality we have been missing.
