Australian veteran commentator Michael Tomalaris who has been commentating on football since 1987 and has known Ange Postecoglou since he was 21 has spoken on the Celtic Australis podcast about how Ange Postecoglou is the right choice for Celtic.

He called Ange the “best coach that Australia has ever produced” and said that he will “more than surprise Celtic fans with results” which should be taken on board by the doubters.

Tomalaris went on to talk up the holy grail of Champions League football for Postecoglou, having an Australian coach in the Champions League is unprecedented and would be a massive achievement for not only Postecoglou but also for Australia, itself not a nation thought of as a footballing power despite qualifying for the last 4 World Cups and winning the Asian Cup in 2015.

Tomalaris went on with what he called a “bold statement”, claiming the J league was in fact a stronger league than the SPFL and calling for respect for Asian football, the League is far tougher, has many more teams with the possibility of winning, is played in front of larger crowds and attracts better players from overseas, not merely to the top 2 either.

Ange Postecoglou has a huge job at Celtic, but he is far from a weak candidate, he has experience in both club and national football, he is highly decorated in having won Premierships in Australia and Japan and also having won a confederation trophy and qualified for a World Cup.

Michael Tomalaris said, Celtic will go far under Ange Postecoglou but needs to be given time, hopefully both the board and the fans can give this to him.
