Scott Brown is the Captain of Celtic for a reason, he is a leader. He has come back from injury at the right time but is yet to play his best football, in what has been a disappointing run since he came on as a sub against Ross County in the League Cup Semi Final loss. With Aberdeen just a point away and Celtic on away duty to eternal Glasgow rivals Partick Thistle, Brown has spelled it out to the team what is needed:

“Now we need to grow a set and kick on from now until the end of the season.”

No excuses, no blaming Ronny, no bitching about selections, no Sevco distractions, no crisis… The Bhoys merely need to listen to the Captain and grow a set and take the competition to pieces. The remaining fixtures are very winnable. After Partick we have Kilmarnock who we have drawn with twice this season. 4 points thrown away to a club playing terrible football 2nd last in the Premiership. We must take full points in both these fixtures.

Then there is the week that will decide the Premiership. On Saturday the 2nd of April Celtic host Hearts in a must win game, it will be our last Home game before the split. We then go to Dundee on Tuesday the 5th and have our last scheduled match vs Motherwell away on Saturday the 9th. 9 points up on offer followed by a Cup Semi Final and the last 5 games of the Premiership will be hectic. Celtic must build the buffer now whilst the teams are easier.

If we go on to win this Premiership, what would be Celtic’s 5th in a row and 47th League title in total. It would be an amazing achievement, but if they were to fail, it would become all the more amazing that they didn’t do it. The perception is that we should win the League easily, it wont be easy, but we must win it.

Broony doesn’t want to leave Celtic, he has said many times. If Celtic is the club for him to see out his career, he will want it pushing 5 to 6 and 7 no different to Richard Gough did at about the same age in the 90s for the Oldco. He has the opportunity to take on Sevco and chase down the elusive 10. But before any of those dreams can become a reality, we need to grow a set and kick on from now to the end of the season.
