Broony calls for the signing that will secure the 10

Celtic have been amazing over the last 4 years with 3 consecutive trebles and a fourth only 2 wins away in the Scottish Cup, throughout this time however, we have never had a custodian or a Right Back the calibre of Forster and Frimpong.

Young Frimpong is at the club on a long term deal and will only improve, Fraser on the other hand is at the end of his loan but at the peak of his powers, a long term contract to make him a Celt for life surely must be our summer priority.

Whilst Edouard has won games for us in the forward line, it has been Forster who has saved Celtic time and again, from open play and the penalty spot with some imperious showings for the club that gave him his break after coming from the Newcastle reserves.

Neil Lennon brought him in on loan and then made him a target at the end of that loan, hopefully, history repeats itself and a deal can be managed with Southampton where he is 3rd choice.

Speaking to Sun Sports, captain Scott brown said:

“Things can change in football. Players can move on and changes can happen.”

“That’s part of the game.

“But it would be great if all the lads could still be here and we could go on again into next season, if it was possible.

“I don’t know what the situation is with the boys on loan. I’m not sure what happens there, but it would be great to get big Fraser back.”

I believe that there will be interest from other clubs who could possibly match his 70k a week pay packet, however he has stated he wants to stay and that he is willing to take a pay cut.

Should we offer him a deal that he will accept and meet a valuation around 10 million pounds, then we will have not just the key to 10 in a row, but to dominate Scotland for years to come.

Crucially, Celtic took its last two huge European scalps with The Great Wall between the posts, the unforgettable nights against Barcelona and Lazio, the latter home and away.

After the heroics against Barca we saw the squad depleted and sold off as attendances tumbled domestically due to the death of the Oldco, we were often told we needed a strong Rangers to push Celtic, something almost all of us categorically denied.

But the fact that we have something calling itself Rangers playing against us and in fairness pushing us for the title and Cups has upped the game at Celtic, we are better on the continent, domestically and have banked our largest ever profits since the Newco first rose to the Premiership.

Now is the time to continue the upward trajectory, value add to our squad and start going into European fixtures with a belief that we can not only compete but progress.

To do so we will need a custodian who is simply a class above, a player who others wish wasn’t playing for us, I remember when the Oldco paid EBT money to Stefan Klos and watched him pull out some simply miraculous saves to keep them in games they otherwise would have lost.

We have the money and the manager to legally keep Fraser at Paradise, should we sign him up on a 5 year contract then we would in essence be throwing down the gauntlet to the SPFL and stating our intent on the continent.

If there is ever a time to buy a class player it is on the cusp of ten in a row, hell they will spend more on wages for Jermain Defoe next year than we will for Forster, it is time we bought our hero and give players like Edouard and Ntcham all the reason more to sign on again with the Champions to write themselves into history.
