Broony’s here for 10 in a row, new contract signed

Scott Brown has pledged his future to Celtic for a further two seasons with the club announcing a 2 year contract extension for the club legend.

Broony has made 506 appearances for Celtic with the last being in a successful 2-0 win over a dogged St. Johnstone at Paradise, he was strong in midfield and chased back on the Perth teams rare forays forward like the Broony of old, he even stepped on the ball, regained his composure and calmly laid the ball off in attack.

Whilst not the player he was in Brendan’s first season, he is still a class above the options at defensive midfield that we have like Mulumbu, Bitton and Kouassi who haven’t threatened to unseat the Celtic Captain.

Over the next 2 years the majority of competition for his place will be from players like Callum McGregor with Celtic’s bloated midfield roster having no free rides.

Indeed with Tom Rogic coming back it is a matter of who misses out, not who gets selected, over the remaining two and a half seasons of Brown’s contract this competition will hopefully keep him fresh, his leadership on the field will no doubt be channeled towards a coaching role once he retires.

Should he retire with the magical 10 in a row beside his name, he wil have etched himself into the history of the club like few others have managed.
