Cake and eat it: Mourinho as Gaffer, Lennon as Director of Football

Sharing is caring!

Neil Lennon looks as calm as a puppy over his future, he has challenges in front in the shape of a return to Ibrox and then 2 games vs Hearts including a shot at the treble treble knowing victory in them will likely see him unveiled as Celtic manager.

Or does it? Today we are hearing from Italy that Mourinho has been offered the Celtic job, a statement of intent at the least from the club regardless of what your opinion on Jose is.

I had my say on my opinion on Jose here about a week ago so won’t go back into it, I remain the same, he owes us a trophy and he would smash Gerrard, smash him to bits and pieces.

At the end of the day I just want to see us win, I couldn’t see us losing lead by Jose and I could see us both spending as part of any package to entice him and him up our efficacy in Europe substantially.

He is a roaster, but hell, all the love in the world was given to Brendan and look how that turned out.

The thing is if Jose comes to Celtic, what happens to Lenny? He could stay on the coaching staff, he could take Lee Congerton’s job as scout or he could move to the vacant Director of Football role.

If Jose does come in he won’t want to step on too many toes, he will have boo Bhoys waiting regardless, to usurp Lennon’s job would only heap the pressure on him, however, to move Lenny into an important job in a back room restructure would strengthen him exponentially.

I am not sure if Jose will be at Celtic next season, but I believe Neil Lennon is going to have a role at the club should he see us to a Scottish Cup victory, it would be unfair not to keep him on some capacity with a chance to help us run down the magical 10.

He started us off after all.
