Celtic face Champions League nightmare at Centre Half after latest bad news

We have no luck… after our last match day vs Feyenoord saw 2 Celtic players sent off including arguably our most senior Centre Half in Gustaf Lagerbielke who will now be automatically suspended for our next match vs Lazio, but the bad news doesn’t end there.

We are now hearing that Nat Philips who was himself brought to the club as a stopgap solution whilst CCV and Nawrocki got healthy is now himself a doubt for the weekend.

Apparently the injury was sustained in the match whereby he was substituted vs Dundee with Lagerbielke taking his place alongside Scales.

If the ankle has been “badly rolled” this would indicate ligament damage and will likely take a few weeks to heal which would have him as a major doubt not just for Livingston but also for the games beyond.

This is far from ideal, at this stage we have our third choice Left Back as our first choice Centre Half with no obvious partner for the next UCL fixture.

We saw Tomoki Iwata play in that position vs The Rangers at Ibrox in the dead rubber and he hardly filled us with a sense of security.

The match vs Lazio is a must win and will be a grudge match as well on and off the field, Celtic simply must get our best team on the pitch and soon or our chances of progressing will be finished before they have begun.

With Nat Philips nursing a sore ankle, CCV, Welsh and Nawrocki out long term and Lagerbielke suspended we are in a terrible state in that format.

If we had no bad luck we would have no luck at all.
