Yesterday we saw a very peculiar position change whereby James Forrest lined up on the left-hand side from kick-off, he often swaps sides late in the game to accommodate Christie coming on but this selection may well have been a thinly veiled message to the board.

The message, now isn’t the time to be cheap, we are a man down on the left and we all know it, with Bolingoli now away for the season, Celtic are in need of a Left-sided player to provide depth for both Moi and Taylor.

We have been linked with a loan mover for Mitchel Bakker which looks dead as the player doesn’t want it, a permanent move for Barry Douglas which looks strange as at 30 he is outside of our business model and also a move for exciting 20-year-old Alfie Doughty.

It has been reported that our inquiry and offer fell short of Charlton’s valuation and that the Addicks have also turned down an official bid from Luton.

With a position open at Celtic, the versatile Doughty who can also play Centre Mid and Left Back as well as his preferred position on the Left Wing would be the perfect acquisition for the Champions.

Moi will be away at the end of the year and we need a long term replacement for him, Taylor needs cover should he get injured and the conversation about prospective transfers for Christie, Ntcham and McGregor won’t go away.

With a fee of well under a million pounds likely to secure his signature, now isn’t the time to wait on signing pre-contracts in January, hopefully, we get him in by the end of the week and add the final piece to what has been a very successful transfer window.
