If this were in any other country this would be the major story of the day, as it is in Scotland do not expect the sports desks to touch this with a barge pole.

Jonny McFarlane has been trundled out today to sooth the itch of the People who are chaffing under the idea of earning half as much as Celtic have been reported to be earning for the Syndey Cup appearance in November.

Apparently they have had a clause inserted into a contract that they have individually negotiated to expect the same amount of money that any other team is getting, namely Celtic.

That is to say that Celtic would have signed off on this in the knowledge that regardless of what they managed to get from organisers the same was to go to the Ibrox club.

Something which is pure fantasy.

There are multiple reports that Celtic are to be getting over double, somewhere in the region of $11 million, even the SMSM is reporting the 10 year olds are to get “less than half.”

Something that McFarlane refuted, he started off strong but soon fell away claiming that mystery mechanisms have been installed in the contract.

Celts are tearing him to pieces on these threads, by all means jump on and add your own message.

This then lead to a reply pointing out that McFarlane is contradicting an earlier report.

McFarlane then quote retweeted to clarify, in doing so he has stated that the Ibrox club have a mechanism to actually get an equal fee, that said, he states “my understanding is”, he doesn’t state that the club has told him explicitly, it is merely his opinion.

Of course this would likely draw further questions as to why it is his understanding.

Celts called out this obvious nonsense.

The source of his understanding then came to light further down the thread.

Court reporter and trusted account James Doleman said it best.
