The Champions League qualifier vs FC Astana shapes to be a season defining moment for the team and the manager. Nothing less than progress will do.
Whilst you would be hard pressed to find a Celtic fan blaming Rodgers for the lack of transfer activity, missing out on Europe is not how you would want to start your Celtic career.
In the first leg Rodgers showed that he DOES have a plan B. His half time talk produced dividends in possession and field position as we pressed forward.
His second half substitutions helped turn the game by bringing on fresher players in advanced roles. Rogic and Forrest wee particularly difficult to deal with for the tired Kazakhs.
But now after just a handful of competitive games, he has to decide on who will partner Eoghan O’Connell in defence. Will it be Efe Ambrose, low on confidence or Kolo Toure, low on match fitness? Will Lustig move to Centre Back?
Rodgers is in an unenviable position so early in his tenure. With Sviatchenko and Simunovic on the sidelines he has the talent at the club but cant get them on the pitch.
So it beckons the question, do we trust in Efe one more time? Do we throw an experienced player, light on match practice into the fray? Or do we move Lustig to CB?
Below is a poll, vote for the player you would pick. It is open for 24 hours.
