Daily Record changes its tune

The Daily Record has sprung to the defence of Sevco’s cheapness after stalwarts Martyn Waghorn and James Tavernier have refused contract extensions unless they are upgraded. This fracas is of course the making of Sevco’s champagne taste on a Buckfast budget.

Succulent Lamb was on offer by Craig SwanGavin Berry and master of delusion Michael Gannon. Their pre arranged answers were interesting as for the whole of last season we were told how great these players were and the numerous comparisons to Barcelona and Real Madrid.

This time around all three were not only said to be not good enough, but the question was put to a poll of “Real Scots”. The reading for world class penalty taker Waggy and “not top-level full-back defensively” Tavs couldn’t be worse. 74% of the dwindling readership thought these two were not worth tying down long term.

74%

So it beckons the question, if these 2 are not up to scratch then when will the Newco come in to buy someone who is up to the “pedigree” of Barton and Kranjcar? Now they they (sic) will now have to do the business in the top flight which will be harder as Berry explained:

The pair did well last season but they should remember it was in a league they should have romped anyway.

Funnily enough this didn’t come up when the mickey mouse treble was up for grabs.

It seems that The DR has finally clued up to the fact the Sevco have got nae dough. So now their scribes are desperately trying to play down the expectations of its players whilst at the same time writing up the prospects of the team.

If we are to believe them that those who helped them win trophies, albeit none that Celtic will ever contest, are not worthy of increased payments whilst a convicted criminal and an over the hill journeyman are, I believe the acrimony will only deepen.

This of course is great news for 5 other clubs in Scotland who will have the opportunity to play Celtic for a 4th time when the competition is split. Unhappy players play like they did under Sally when he tried to romp the Championship.

How did that end up?
