Scott Allan as I have written many times before is a tragic figure at Celtic, he is a player blessed with talent who finds himself stuck behind a host of talented midfielders, he seems to good to be allowed to go but not quite good enough to break into the team.
The same could be said of Ryan Christie who has taken Paradise by storm since getting his chance, the Ronny Deila signing has just been rewarded with a new deal on the back of a months toil whereby we have been wondering how on earth he hasn’t been a regular for years.
He certainly looks like he will be in the first team for years to come.
So what of Scott Allan, a player who has a wonderful passing game, plays a high press in defence and whose only crime is to be behind a swathe of midfielders at Paradise.
He looked certain to go to Hibernian in a cash plus player deal for John McGinn after playing well for Neil Lennon’s team last term, however with the collapse of that deal has found himself in the footballing wilderness not even making the bench for the Champions.
Celtic have lost a lot of personnel to injuries of late, with a crowded fixture list awaiting the Hoops between the resumption of football and the derby at Ibrox on the 29th of December, it is now or never for Allan.
He looks certain to leave in January and could even sign for his childhood heroes, or at least the team pretending to be them.
Surely a spot on the bench and a chance to show his value isn’t an impossible thing to ask, if he shines then keep him on to fight for his place and a new contract, if he fails then see him on his way for whatever we can pick up in January.
So I pose the question:
