SM Media reports that Celtic are looking to strengthen in the midfield and forward line stating that deals are close to being finalised and would be activated once the January transfer window opens.
Daizen Maeda of Yokohama F Marinos has been consistently linked with a switch to Celtic since Postecoglou took the reins at Celtic, with Griffiths away and Ajeti not favoured, we certainly need a new forward, the interest in having 2 Japanese strikers at one club would be incredible, especially in Japan.
But Maeda looks a baller, last season in the J League he scored 21 goals in 34 matches and picked up 3 assists for only 1 yellow card.
At 24 he is coming into the prime of his life and he will not cost a fortune either.
Danny Mandriou is a central or attacking midfielder from Shamrock Rovers whose contract finishes on December 31st, meaning we will likely have to pay a nominal fee for compensation, he scored 15 goals and had 6 assists in 35 matches last term.
If these reports are accurate, it will be 2 exciting players coming to the club for minimal outlay, how we approach the rest of the window at Centre Half and Left Wing will be very interesting indeed.
