It appears that John McGinn will not be playing his football at Paradise this season, something that should worry no one.
The midfield is crowded and places are at a premium, 2 players are currently at the club in Kouassi and Bitton who are not getting any minutes in the same position McGinn plays.
With Brendan being an attacking minded manager, he will never use two defensive midfielders at the same time as Ronny Deila did with Bitton and Brown.
The real area of concern is still Centre Back, the facts are that Boyata and Simunovic are not trustworthy but in today’s insane transfer market they are worth a fortune.
With a bid having been formally presented to Celtic by Fulham for 9 million pounds, we have the opportunity to make money and replace a player who is himself the problem position at the club.
We have 3 strikers fighting over 1 place and have no need for another attacker.
Celtic has a swathe of midfield options, some of whom like Kouassi, Bitton, Allan, Christie, Johnston, Benyu, Hayes, Morgan and even Sinclair will struggle for game time behind Rogic, Brown, Ntcham, McGregor and Forrest.
Which leaves defence, where Ajer and Tierney pick themselves and Hendry, Simunovic, Gamboa, Compper, Boyata and Lustig are a merry go round that rotates ineffectively, particularly in Europe.
Ralston may well take his chance this year if he is injury free and Gamboa too will apply the pressure to Lustig, it is Centre Half where we need a new face.
Hopefully, Fulham comes back in again with an improved bid and the money is given to Brendan to spend on a quality replacement.
