Jozo and Erik sales can finance Paddy Roberts transfer

Brendan has himself talked about a revolving door at Celtic this transfer window, a few players that didn’t play against Sevco could provide the funds to overhaul the squad.

Our defensive woes are well known and you would think that is where we would start, it could also be the place where we raise the cash to buy.

Erik Svitachenko is a forgotten man at Celtic, the Danish Internationalist hasn’t featured in months and has been told to find another club.

You would expect a fee in the region of £3 million for Sviatchenko, money that would repay the outlay to bring him to Celtic.

Centre Back partner Jozo Simunovic has been reportedly targeted for a move of between £6.5 to 8 million to Burnley and if either of those figures is accurate then we should bite the hand for that money.

So let’s say we can raise £10 million from the pair, subtract a million for Compper, £500,000 for Hendry and £300,000 for Morgan and we still have £8million to spend.

With Patrick Roberts injured and Man City near invincible with their current roster, you would think now would be a good time to make an inquiry for a permanent move.

Celtic have looked a little flat of late and Roberts injury has been keenly felt by the squad.

Securing him on a permanent deal is a must, we need players who are a class above the current crop and you would back the young City starlet to return to his best form in the coming months.

We offered £7 million reportedly during the last window, to put it into perspective, would you swap Jozo Simunovic for Patrick Roberts?

We also have the money from the Van Dijk sale meaning that Celtic could do its domestic shopping with Hendry and Morgan, pick up Paddy from Manchester City to go with Compper and still have £7 to 8 million to spend at the Gaffers discretion.

That could mean another Centre Back, Goalkeeper or attacking player with money left over.

With a busy period including a World Cup and its associated inflation, 4 rounds of Champions League qualifiers in the summer, getting business sorted now is in Celtic’s best interests.

Not to say the treble and European football which are both alive.

Last window we failed to sign defensive cover with Rivaldo Coetzee failing a medical, during this window we should offload those who are surplus to requirements and start rebuilding the squad sooner rather than later.
