Celtic today it seems are tracking 5 managers, Maresca, Moyes, Marsch, Potter and Knutsen, the 5 of them have varying complications around signing them apart from arguably the least desirable of them in Marsch and Potter who are out of contract.

Maresca is contracted to Manchester City as their assistant coach, Moyes is bound to West Ham United and of course Knutsen is under contract by Bodo Glimt.

With the last of the 5 however there is a dynamic that no one is taking into account.

Speaking in the Norwegian press, Knutsen has replied to the interest specifically from Ajax and dampened not just their approach but any we might make.

Speaking in nrk.no: (translated to English original available via the link)

– I want to emphasize strongly that to defect from something in the middle of a season, it takes extremely much for me, Knutsen told TV 2 after the yellow jerseys took their eighth straight win against Vålerenga on Sunday.

When Brendan left we all called him a rat for going to another league mid season, Knutsen is currently 8 points clear at the top of the Norwegian League which itself finishes on December 2nd.

It of course snows heavily in Scandinavia so their season is completely different with the season running from April 10th, had we wanted Knutsen, we would have better to have made our approach before this time.

It appears Knutsen will indeed depart after his tenure is up at the end of the current Norwegian campaign, one that he is odds on to win and would leave a legend.

Knutsen’s Bodo came second last season and he is likely keen to go out a winner, he could then take 6 months off and have his pick of jobs this time next season.

Essentially Ajax are a bigger club with a bigger budget in a bigger league, if they cannot pry him away midseason we have very little chance.

Which leaves Moyes, Maresca, Potter and Marsch, hopefully we go with Maresca, someone completely new and able to bring his own style to Paradise, we went to the City Group well for Ange, it would be likely they will be our preference after Manchester City’s Champions League final.
