Wow the rewrite of history is on, I mean since they have no realistic chance of getting a Champions League triumph they are snatching this opportunity to point score and get the eternal monkey off their backs.

Living in Jock’s shadow has been too dark and cold for the Ibrox fans for far too long, now they perceive that they are 90 minutes away from having the greatest honour to be awarded to a a Scottish club.

I wonder if they will apply to add another star to their jersey?

It wont be a gold one whatever the case.

Kevin Thomson might be Broony’s best mate but he is way off with this dribble in the Daily Record.

“I’m not just saying this to be controversial – that’s not the way I am.” Thomson says with the hint of a wince.

“I’m respectful to both clubs because they both have incredible histories. But, for me, it would be the best achievement ever by any Scottish club.

“You have to consider where the club has been since 2008. Dropping down the leagues. Having to rebuild. Winning a 55th league title and then making it to a European final the next again season?

“Someone told me the other day they were playing against Stirling Albion nine years ago! That’s what you’re dealing with here. It’s incredible.

“So, yes, if they do get their hands on that trophy they will, in my opinion, be the best bar none.

“I know what the Lisbon Lions achieved in 1967 was amazing and I’m not trying to take anything away from them.

“But when you consider how far this Rangers team has come and the size of the financial disparity across European football these days, this would be an unbelievable achievement.”

Running a loss for 9 seasons and an endless amount of confetti share issues to keep the lights on a Leeds United business plan aimed at getting to the Champions League riches to pay off their sins is hardly anything to be proud of.

Jock took a team who could all walk to the stadium from their homes, not a pack of mercenaries, the two are chalk and cheese.

Tomorrow history isn’t merely on the line, a rewrite of it is too.
