Never been a better time to play Bayern

Bayern Munich is not a major club, it is a massive club and one whose record speaks for itself.

The assignment ahead for Celtic seemed impossible at the time of the draw with many of us speculating about hoping we fell into the Europa League.

That could yet be our fate, we hold the edge over Anderlecht after our away win.

If the rest of the games in the group go the way you would expect a home draw vs the Belgians will see us playing European Football after Christmas.

But a heroic performance in Munich, even a point will give Celtic a punchers chance of getting out of this group.

Bayern have been on a run of negative results for over a month with the defeat to PSG the final straw for Carlo Ancelotti.

Old manager, Jupp Heynckes is back in charge and the Champions league winner is not to be taken lightly.

He returned the Bavarian Giants to winning ways against relegation zone team Freiburg, thumping them 5-0.

However, Celtic should not approach this fixture with fear, last year we managed a point against Moenchengladbach away and also a point at Manchester City, themselves controlled by Jupp’s replacement Pep Guardiola.

We won our last game on the road meaning we have taken 5 of our last 9 points on the road in the Champions League.

We may not have the money of the Germans, but we have a settled squad, an amazing manager and great opportunity to thrust our club back into the big time.

Where it belongs.
