Former Celtic hardman and one time hero Paolo di Canio turned down the chance to manage Celtic in 2014 after the first departure of Neil Lennon.

The reason being that he wasn’t allowed to bring his own staff and would of had to deal with the current set up, the same gripe which cost us Eddie Howe’s signature after a protracted chase which ultimately lead to us signing Ange Postecoglou.

Ange of course came alone and is largely reliant on Kennedy and Strachan although he has brought in some other faces to add to his back room team.

As reported in The Sun:

However, Celtic wanted the Italian to work with the coaching staff they had in place and Di Canio rejected the offer to become their manager.

Piccareta recalled: “Paolo is a man who simply does not compromise. Let me give you an example,

“After we left Sunderland, he received a firm proposal from Celtic and he was offered the manager’s job.

“But Celtic insisted they keep the staff that was there in place already in Glasgow.

“In order not to abandon me and the staff he worked with previously, Paolo refused the job offer.

In the end we signed Ronny Deila who won two consecutive titles and a League Cup, he was however unlucky at Hampden in a Scottish Cup Semi Final vs Caley and could have picked up a treble if Muir and McClean could see clearly.
