Sell these 7 Celts and buy Roberts

Sharing is caring!

Celtic fans are desperate to see Patrick Roberts in Hoops permanently, selling some deadwood and adding the sell on bonus from Virgil should do the trick.

Here is who i would sell and why:

Nir Biton is surplus to requirements, he barely played all season and with Kouassi having been brought in as a long term replacement for Broony his opportunities will be further limited next term. With the captain stating he wants to play on up to 40 and Eboue champing at the bit to play for the Champions, there is no need for Nir in the squad.

An offer of 7 million euro was made by Sevco’s sister club Espanyol last summer, if we could get half of that now i would bite the hand and drive him to the airport myself.

Nadir Ciftci has been a massive disappointment and will not feature for Celtic again. With Moussa, Griffith, Aitchison and the returning Nesbitt well and truly ahead in the pecking order, any bid in the region of half a million would see him leave.

Scott Allan is a Celt who offered so much but in the end produced so little. he reminds me of Derek Riordan under Strachan, a man with a lot of potential starved of game time. Anywhere but his childhood favourites.

Saidy Janko arrived and was injured from the start, a talented player who is attracting interest from Championship clubs, the competition for his signature may well bring in some money for a forgotten man.

Gary Mackay-Steven is a solid player who has celebrated Premiership glory with Celtic, he would walk into any SPL team except ours. The gulf between him and the rest of our midfield is similar to the SPFL table. A move to a non Scottish team would be best for Celtic and the player, the last thing we need is him popping up to hurt us.

Cristian Gamboa arrived for a million pounds and hasn’t done a lot wrong, he hasn’t been able to force his way into the team and with Ralston knocking at Lustig’s door, an offer close to what we paid would see the Costa Rican internationalist gain meaningful game time.

Logan Bailly Has played just 5 games for Celtic, with Fasan coming back from loan he looks a far better option to be the back up to Gordon. Dorus de Vries has experience and Leo youth, regardless i cant see anyone getting ahead of Gordon unless it is due to injury or suspension. Any money would be good money for him.

If we can pocket 6 million from the on sale of Van Dijk, i believe we could round up another 3-4 million from these Bhoys.

None of them have a long term future at Celtic and getting them off the wage bill would be an added blessing.

With our youths being targeted after their invincible season 2 years ago, it is time to clear off the deadwood, buy the man we want and promote those who play football the Glasgow Celtic way.
