Sevco lose court battle, time for another Commission

Sevco have been ordered to pay the fine given to the Oldco by Lord Nimmo Smith, this is of course natural as one of the conditions of the Newco being allowed to begin from scratch in Scottish football was that they meet all footballing debts and whatever punishment was levied against them. That they had the temerity to challenge this on the basis that it was a different club whilst offering the survival myth is ridiculous, now that some justice has been done, why not a new commission?

LNS said in his judgement (which he gave as an employee of the SFA and not as a sitting Lord) that the Oldco had received “no sporting advantage” by being able to buy players outside of their means with creative accounting known as the EBT scheme. The Oldco is currently in liquidation but those connected to it are spuriously arguing its innocence, this time before the Supreme Court.

The time to demand a new commission which is headed by an impartial and unpaid (by the SFA) arbitrator is long overdue. On the back of this judgement we have the opportunity to both see the manifest inadequacies within the judgement and its flawed and contrived nature. Anyone who thinks cheating to buy better players does not give you a sporting advantage is delusional, a 4 year old can tell you the better your players are, the better your team is, the better your team is the more trophies you will win.

It is common sense. That a retired Lord and an employee of the SFA came to a separate consideration doesn’t surprise me any more than Sevco going into the transfer market with a 2.5 million pound going concern. This then beckons the question, how will Sevco pay for this and when will they be asked to make the payment? With overinvestment off the radar currently underway from Dave King and his wee bears, i wonder if they have any more money to launder from Hong Kong.

The Daily Record using the words Oldco and Newco? Don’t tell me that there are 2 Rangers?

This court blow comes just days after Sevco withdrew their bid for compensation for the players who left Oldco Rangers as it had become abundantly clear to their legal team that the case was unwinnable, the SMSM can say you are the same club til they are blue in the face it doesn’t mean such a claim will stand up to the scrutiny of the inside of a court room. For this reason, there must be another commission, one presided upon by a sitting justice, i would suggest one from Switzerland, inside the CAS.
