The amount of angry Celtic fans on social media demanding not just action, but answers from the board is unprecedented. The board has yet again missed an important UEFA deadline and Celtic will again take the squad that failed for the last 2 years to advance to the group stages of the Champions League to a grade A banana skin in FC Astana.

Celtic got past their neighbours Shaktar Karargandy 3 years ago in the last minute in the 2nd leg at Paradise, however there was no last minute recruitment last night.

The morning was one whereby Celtic fans awoke in disbelief as much as anything. The consensus is one of betrayal after Celtic fans were promised a revolution, we have instead been served up the same anxiety that has plagued our club for 2 seasons.

It cost Deila his job, he couldn’t take us through to the Champions League and the media crucified him, lets be honest, most of us did.

Now with the arrival of a manager who truly has the opportunity to take Celtic to the next level, we are not just short changing him but also those who flocked to the banner of revolution.

If Celtic do not reach the group stages and we are far from certainties, we could see a situation whereby fans who have paid for their season tickets refusing to attend games.

Rodgers himself praised Celtic’s ‘incredible’ fans after 56,000 piled into Paradise to cheer the Bhoys on. To take such support for granted is a ridiculous folly.

The board is putting Rodgers into a position whereby he continually is telling the faithful that we will soon see investment, that £15 million is allegedly available and that he requires every Tim to give there all for Celtic.

It is now time for the board to provide the funding Rodgers requires to take Celtic to the lofty heights of which he is dreaming out loud about. If they cannot stump up the money they have promised whilst they gleefully rake in the season ticket money then they are no better than the spivs that infect the deluded half of Glasgow.

Now is the time for the board to back Rodgers, the team and the fans. Peter Lawwell, Show us the money!
