Striking a balance: sign Gabby or play Christie?

There is talk of Gabby Agbonlahor coming to Celtic after the 31-year-old issued a come get me plea after the Match for Cancer on the weekend.

The match was a light-hearted kick about with few serious challenges and a lot of back-slapping and smiles as any charity event should be.

At 31, Gabby is far from washed up, that said he would have to drop a lot of weight to make the first team, this would take time and for a stop-gap solution, that is counterintuitive.

Myself I believe we should be looking at Ryan Christie as our third forward until Jack Aitchison returns hopefully with plenty of minutes and goals under his belt from Dumbarton.

Christie is in the last year of his contract and shows no signs of wanting away, the Celtic fan looks desperate to impress Brendan as he has every other manager he has played for save Ronny.

That Brendan put him on in the Glasgow derby when we had a slender advantage shows his faith in the young Scot, he is in my opinion too good a player for every other team in the SPFL but not quite Celtic quality.

These next months will define his career, if he is to nail down a new contract and play his Football at Celtic for years to come or become the next Jackson Irvine.

I have faith he will set the League alight be it from the bench or as a starter, hopefully, the gaffer holds the same faith and puts no hurdles in the way of his Celtic opportunity.

He has waited long enough.
