I always find it funny how Christopher Sutton and Kris Boyd are treated so entirely differently by rival fans, Chris gets death threats and Kris gets memes about monster munch and pies, the two supports treat the two as differently as chalk and cheese.

If I am being honest I love the fact that Boydy as he likes to be known is a pundit, he is heaps of fun to take the piss out of and has far more charisma than the likes of McCann, Miller and the soup spooners who need not be named.

It is good to have a pundit you don’t like but in some ways even fear a little, I mean imagine the Newco had pinched that last week, clicking onto your Twitter and there is Boyd full of Deludamol making life hell for us all, it is part and parcel of Fitba.

That they cannot take the same from Chris Sutton is a joke, the man is always at it having a laugh and seriously is an asset to the national sport, he isn’t someone who should be silenced but someone who should be praised for being at the cutting edge of the patter.

Much like Boyd, the two get along well and I will say another nice thing for Kris Boyd here you don’t see those evil eyes when he interacts with Sutty, the two can take their opinions from the opposite fringe and at least debate it.

The weekend was a fantastic example of that with the controversy surrounding the chopped off goal.

Sutton has spoken in the below article in The Daily Record:

Chris Sutton has revealed he’s been attacked, sent death threats and abused on more than one flight by fans.

The Celtic hero turned pundit has lifted the lid on the personal attacks that have come his way, after Roy Keane was allegedly ‘headbutted’ by a thug while working his duties for Sky Sports. It sparked ex-players, managers and pundits to unite and tell their stories with the Record Sport columnist bravely speaking about his own experience with angry fans. The Premier League winner was even forced to report a death threat to police while in Scotland but that ‘nothing came out of it’.

Known for his comical and entertaining punditry style, Sutton admits his affiliation with passionate clubs such as Celtic and Norwich City can sometimes attract ‘vitriolic’ social media barbs thrown his way. The 50-year-old says he has thick skin, but when matters of his family become involved become a major concern, yet he bravely insists he’s got no plans to hang up the microphone.

He told the Mail Online’s ‘It’s Coming Up’ podcast: “Somebody tried to attack me before in a hotel bar. I’ve had a death threat. I’ve had a car mount the pavement and career towards me.

“I’ve been abused quite badly. I’d say possibly three times over the years, on an airplane by mobs. There’s not like you can do much about it. I broadcast in a way where I try to be honest, not everyone agrees with my opinion. But I think you’ll know this yourself. As a broadcaster, you have to have thick skin.

“How do you deal with it the death threat? I reported it to the police. With the abuse on an airplane, I just sat through it, took off, got off at the other end.

Such Neanderthal behaviour is a disgrace, the sooner it is highlighted and stamped out the better.

As I said above, Fitba would be all the worse if it weren’t for colourful characters like Kris Boyd and Christopher Sutton, we are lucky to have them to love and hate in equal measure.

We are all Christopher Sutton.
