No different to the Sydney Cup which the Newco pulled out of, there is no one attached to Celtic in any professional capacity that uses the term Oldfirm, yet today we have inverted commas around an Ange quote in a headline but without any such quote having been made.

Here is the actual quotes within the report.

“It’s just that sort of city where there’s kind of only two clubs that are of any interest and you can’t escape it, particularly if you become manager of one of the two clubs.

“It meant adjusting in terms of lifestyle for the family.

“We try to keep it as normal as possible but the first few times we ventured out to a shopping centre we figured out that can’t happen anymore, particularly for the family.

“Everyone was really welcoming and I guess success helps that but it was an adjustment in terms of the instant recognition people have of me as opposed to when I was back home.

“At the same time, I love it. People are just passionate about sport, they are passionate about their football club, that’s the stuff I love so I’m happy to fit in with that.”

“My family has adjusted really well, I’ve got two young boys who go to school.

“My boys went to international school in Japan where all the teachers had an American background so they had an American accent in Japan which annoyed the c**p out of me.

“And now they have come here and they are picking up a bit of Glaswegian as well so they are not going to sound like my kids. They are not going to sound like Aussies at all.”

As you can see, no where has the term Oldfirm been used.

So saying a “city where there’s kind of only two clubs” equals being quotable as Oldfirm is a disgrace.

He didn’t say that and it is a misrepresentation of his quotes to attribute it to him.

The deluded lapped it up.
