Transfer shame of Ibrox

Toumani Digarouaga has been hyped up in the press by Derek Jonstone, Barry Ferguson and of course Mark Warburton so much that Leeds have decided to go and buy him. You the see fresh air with add ons that Sevco were offering didn’t match Brentford’s valuation. They reportedly wanted around £1 million, Sevco reportedly offered £500,000.

Now you dont have to be a crooked accountant to understand that Sevco have offered £500k and £150k for their 2 transfer targets, namely Toumani Digarouaga and Michael O’Halloran. St. Johnstone are holding out for a valuation of £600k, will Sevco now come back with the £600k for the former Celt? Well if they do i would take it all upfront as there is no way the Newco will actually spend money on its first team.

Money at Ibrox is a funny thing, in the first 2 years of their existence they spent £67 million but only £10 million on the actual team. The likes of Ian Black, Fran Sandaza and Scotland’s finest Lee Wallace were captained by Elbows and managed by the Ally in the Third Division as it was then known. None of these players or their manager were worth tuppence. Yet Sally put his snout in the trough for nearly £1 million a year.

Now with the cash cow milked dry, a completely different squad to that which they had developed (Bar Kenny Miller of course) and taking their second bite at the Premiership cherry, Sevco are in need of something they flittered away on erroneous contracts; money. The transfer targets they have in mind are cheap, £1.6million for an entire window is basically what we spent on big Erik Sviatachenko. So why not open the war chest and overinvest?

Quite simply, there is no war chest, there never has been. The deluded who starved their team of finance to put a career criminal in charge last season are finding their Clumpany operating with a projected shortfall of £2.5 million until seasons end. The way to balance the budget? Buy players of course. But spending money you don’t have isn’t as easy as the DR and Evening Times think it should be.

The Scottish Main Stream Media, which tried to drive Scott Allan to Murray Park themselves, ended up selling him to Celtic. Thanks for that lads he looks a decent prospect and well worth the couple hundred thousand. Toumani Digarouaga has now been sold due to the same alleged journalists trying to get Brentford and St. Johnstone to stop holding them to “ransom”. I think it is time the SMSM got off THEIR high horses and started treating the footballing public with some respect.

The national sport is an obsession for us all, we are used to seeing transfers concluded for 10s of millions of Pounds, Euros and Dollars whenever the window opens. That Sevco seem to think that they can throw a derisory offer at whoever, send their lamb corp into a spin and then play victim that this player is being held back from playing for the zenith of Scots Fitba.

Yet again i find myself reaching for the popcorn as the omnishambles finds new ways to embarrass itself and the club it replaced. Tore Andre Flo came in for £12 million, now they are lowballing our former youth players to a team playing in front of 3000 fans. The tenner for a fiver days have now been replaced with 40p in your tenner, 6 court cases and now the final humiliation for the going concern, they can’t afford players we don’t want or have never heard of. If anyone needed reminding, Rangers are dead.
